The tournament is approaching quickly, so please note the following:
SCHEDULES: Schedules are now available but subject to change if there are any facility changes or unforeseen problems.
MAPS/TRAVEL TIME: There is always a lot of new construction in Las Vegas and things are changing constantly. Maps are provided for your convenience but may be outdated by the time the tournament comes around. They may also show roads that have not been completed but are already shown on the Las Vegas city maps. GPS is good but not foolproof especially for developing areas. Do not rely totally on it, and allow extra travel time. Try to make it to the gym at least a half hour before your scheduled game times.
SNACK STANDS/BEVERAGES: Snack stands may be available at some of the facilities. Please support the schools’ fundraising efforts, but adhere to each individual school’s policy on eating/drinking in the gym. In most cases, only drinks in leak-proof containers will be allowed, and ice chests will need to be left in the lobby.
SCORE SHEETS: Only approved and cleared players will be listed on the score sheets, and only those players who are on the score sheets will be allowed to participate. Jersey numbers and other information on the score sheets must be accurate. Discrepancies that are not corrected prior to the start of the game are subject to penalties of one technical foul per infraction. Team representatives or coaches are advised to check the accuracy of the score sheet prior to the beginning of the each game. Each participant must have the tournament waiver completed and filed with the Hollywood Dodgers prior to the tournament. Any outstanding paperwork/fees should be submitted immediately to avoid player disqualifications.
ADULT TEAMS: Players of adult teams should be prepared to show photo IDs prior to the start of each game.
2nd GRADE TEAMS: Games will be played with standard 10’ rims. Scores will be displayed during the games but results will not be posted. The Sunday games will be shortened to 17-minute halves with one 45-second time-out per half to allow for a brief awards ceremony immediately following each set of games. Games can end in ties, so overtime is not an option (Sunday only). Teams are requested to assemble promptly on Court 2 after the completion of their games. There will be time for team photos after the ceremony. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
TEAM REPRESENTATIVES: Please remember to check in upon your arrival prior to the first game. Pre-ordered T-shirts and Slot Tournament tickets will be distributed at that time. A limited number of T-shirts will be available for sale at the UNLV Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Space is available for the 9:30 Slot Tournament. Walk-ons for all sessions may be allowed if there are sufficient working machines.
COACHES: Remember to read the tournament rules and tie breakers prior to the tournament.
MINORS TRAVELING WITHOUT PARENT/GUARDIAN: Those who are transporting or accompanying a minor who is traveling without a parent or legal guardian should have the minor's completed and signed medical consent form in their possession. The medical consent form is needed to ensure the minor will receive medical care in the event of injury or illness and if the parent or legal guardian cannot be contacted. They should also have a photocopy of each minor’s health insurance ID card with them as well. Do not send these documents to the Hollywood Dodgers.
DRIVING TO LAS VEGAS: Managed lanes crossover has been implemented as part of the Cajon Pass Project (beginning 7/19/15 for a 10-week period). Check for information on closures, crossovers, and detours and view the related press conference at http://www.cajonpassproject.com/closures-detours. The speed limit is 60 mph through the construction zone with added CHP coverage. If you are driving to/from Las Vegas please do so safely.
Please remember that this is a friendship tournament. Our intent has always been to make it a fun event for all participants. Please exercise good sportsmanship and fair play. We would also appreciate your cooperation in clearing the gym promptly after the last game each day.
